There are tons of general-purpose kayaks available on the market, but some kayaks are designed to fit a fisherman perfectly, this is where the UH–RA220 comes in. It has plenty of features and quite the storage capacity too!
Given its 11.5 foot length, as well as 34 inches width the kayak is very stable, and it’s really hard to tip over. The hull itself has molded channels to further improve stability. But even if you do manage to tip it over, there are 8 scupper plugs spread out throughout for easy drainage.
The RA220 is made from high-density polyethylene, which is considered to be a standard in kayaks nowadays. It supports a load of up to 550 pounds, which is plenty for most people.
Even though it’s a fairly large kayak, it weighs 68 pounds. It comes with a foot-operated rudder, which makes it easier to operate when paddling.
BKC made sure to make the kayak as spacious as possible. Everywhere you look in this kayak, there's a storage area. Beginning with the three watertight compartments on the front of the kayak, to the large cargo area on the back. Below the watertight compartments, there is a hollow area that is perfect for storing bigger fishing equipment or extra fishing rods.
The back cargo area also has bungee tie-down straps which you can use to secure a cooler.
If you want to have multiple rods deployed simultaneously to maximize your chance of catching something, you can do so in the RA220, which has 2 flush-mounted Rod holders with caps to prevent debris from getting in. And in case you were wondering, yes the kayak is stable enough for you to stand while fishing.
Comfort in the BKC RA220 is on par with any other high-end kayaks. You can easily adjust the back support simply by tightening the straps. The frame of the chair is made from aluminum, and it’s easily adjustable.
The RA220 comes with a two-piece 86” aluminum paddle. The paddle is extremely lightweight. The two carrying handles on the sides, also act as paddle parks.
The rudder system comes pre-installed, all you have to do is secure a couple of latches on the rear of the kayak, and all other adjustments to it can be done from the front.
We like how everything is easily accessible. The design is well thought out and everything is ideally placed.
