If you’re looking for a tandem kayak that can support 2 to 3 people then the BKC TK122 is one of the best kayaks out there.
Let’s begin with the hull. Measuring at 12 feet 8 inches long and 34 inches wide the kayak is spacious enough to carry two adults and a child easily. The kayak has an impressive max capacity load of 770 pounds even though it weighs just 74 pounds. Even if you have three people on board, there’s a lot of extra weight you can bring onboard such as fishing or camping equipment.
Thanks to its size and flat-bottomed hull, the watercraft is almost impossible to tip over. It’s very stable, and once you real in a big fish, you won’t have to struggle to manage your weight so you won’t tip over.
The kayak features aluminum upright seats, and if you are familiar with BKC you are likely to know how comfortable they are to sit in. Adjusting them is very easy, and you can remove them with just a few clips.
There are four accessory mounts, two on each side for mouthing things like phone holders, fish finders, or cup holders. Alongside the accessory mounts, you will also find D-ring mounts for things like paddle keepers or anchor cleats.
The TK122 has two articulating rod holders for the front passenger, and two flush-mounted rod holders for the rear passenger. Once you do start fishing, you can place the paddles in the paddle parks on each side of the boat.
On each section of the kayak, there are three-level footrests for optimal seating. On the bottom of each section, there are watertight compartments with dry bag inserts. There are also 4 scupper plugs per section, allowing the kayak to self-drain easily.
Any equipment that doesn’t need to be kept dry, can be stored in the cargo area on the back which is supported with bungee tie-down straps. The storage area is big enough to fit their 20-liter cooler.
Overall, the kayak is perfect for longer sessions of kayaking. The massive load capacity and the large cargo space make this kayak perfect for family trips to the lake.
