One of the best models in the PK series is the single propeller pedal drive kayak PK12.
Starting off with the design, the kayak layout is well-thought-out giving it plenty of storage space as well as leg space. The hull is 12 feet long and nearly 3 feet wide and weighs around 70 pounds. The maximum load capacity load is 460 lbs., and is good enough for even the most equipped fishermen.
The PK12 features the pedal drive system, and it’s the updated version too! The pedals are connected to a high-efficiency propeller that is capable of instantly changing directions. It handles amazingly well in currents due to its ability to maneuver quickly.
It certainly helps to have both your arms free for holding a fishing rod. Speaking of fishing rods, there are two flush-mounted rod holders that help to keep the rods out of the way while traveling or to have two separate rods deployed simultaneously.
If you have a fish finder or a GPS, there’s an accessory slider to mount them on. There are two rails one on each side of the hull so you can have a direct view of them while kayaking or fishing.
There are also EV stepping pads on the bottom making it easy to stand up in this kayak. But if you do prefer sitting, the seat is also adjustable for optimal comfort.
Storage certainly won’t be a problem. The kayak is designed quite well, which results in having tons of cargo capacity. There’s a large cargo area supported with bungee cords on the rear, and a hollow area in the front of the area beneath one of the watertight hatches. There are two of these, and both have dry bag inserts which are perfect for storing valuable items while kayaking.
The hand-controlled rudder system is a bit awkwardly placed, but with some adjustment to the seat, you will be able to reach it easily.
On the side of the hull, there are holding handles on each side that also act as paddle parks with straps.
The PK12 gives both fishing and kayaking a great experience. The size is big enough so you can comfortably sit and fish in it for a relaxing kayaking session, but it’s also capable of handling in rougher waters. This kayak is optimal for someone who needs the cargo capacity but doesn’t want to sacrifice too much of the kayaking aspect to get it.
